 "IT DOES NOT WORK!!!!!" 2009-10-11
By Hootee Ong
I bought one, I wish I had read the reviews. The built in lithium battery failed to recharge and the photo frame had never turned on, once it was disconnected from the USB port. A piece of JUNK!

"Easy to use, buy poor LCD." 2009-07-29
By Julian Kanini (Tirana, Albania)
I bought this as a present and one for myself. While playing with that I noticed the following (that might help deciding to buy it or not)

Pros:

1. Its (relatively) easy to set it up and to upload photos to the device (in Windows XP), but software is not that intuitive and don't expect much from the manual. From the manual I noticed that the MAC software looks better.

2. It charges via USB cable from your computer. So no batteries are needed.

3. The device interface is not graphical, but its intuitive and really easy to use.

---------------

Cons:

1. I sort of expected it to be with poor LCD (from the comments), so Im just confirming that. Yes it has a poor LCD, pictures doesn't look as bright as in the product image, its faaaar from that.

2. It's thicker than it looks in the photo and the ring is made of plastic (like the rest of it). Your first impression is like you're carrying a toy.

3. Even though it called "Coby DP152BLK 1.5-Inch Cliphanger Key Chain Digital Photo Frame (Black)", it might be more suitable to hang it on a backpack, rather than with your keys.

4. It shuts down after some time. I really dont get this, is it a feature or a fault. I did the full charge of 4 hrs.

5. My "Next" button is hard to press, and I don't know if its just me.

---------------

Info (also consider these before buying):

1. The software crops your photos into a 1.5 inch square, but at least it doesn't stretch them down. Not suitable for wide photos.

2. Nice features like the clock and the calendar (I use a PDA for that, anyway). But what about when the device is turned off (which happens automatically)?

3. The photo looks ugly (that was my first impression) with the current photo information on it (like 3/60, in red), but it fades away after one second. I noticed when I set the Auto Slide Time = 30 seconds. Anyway you get used to it, cause it stays there just for 2 seconds.

4. Slide show animation is not consistent (sometimes pictures fades, sometimes slides away, some times dissolves with squares), but you can still live with that. :)))

5. Cant really tell if it's fully charged or not, but its not like you will need to know it.

4. Relatively cheap. (relatively)

-------------

All in all, it's interesting to have around, but if I could still choose, I wouldn't buy it. But that's just me.

 "Not Worth It" 2009-05-23
By Kansas Vicki (Derby, Ks USA)
I purchased 4 of these (3 as gifts) and only one person could get it to work - and that was with a big hassle, including having to use a different connection cable. I tried on my desktop computer and my laptop with the same results. Coby Troubleshooting personnel walked me through some gyrations for the one I kept and when nothing worked, told me to return the unit because it was defective. Instead, I gave it to a computer geek who is the one who tried the new cable and some other tricks and it finally worked. The idea is great and the look of the product is fine; they just don't work. The other 3 have been returned.

"Sending this one back... DO NOT BUY FOR MAC!" 2009-05-15
By M. Potvin (SC PA)
I am running the latest version/updates of Mac OS X. After installing their software, I launched the picture loading application from the desktop. It tells you to make sure the frame is in "Update" mode. Well there is no update mode. Checked the site for a software update, same version as shipped.

I was able to access the frame through a Windows Virtual machine, so I know the device is not defective. However, all of my pictures were in iPhoto so that is on little use.

My MIL was in town and tried to log into my wife's profile, but it hung. So she rebooted the computer. It hung at a white screen. I told her to unplug the frame, and it immediately booted.

I lost 3 hours the day before Mother's Day trying to load this thing up with images as a special gift from the kids. Thanks, but no thanks!

"Those digital frames are great" 2009-01-28

While I did not buy the picture frames for myself my friend loaded pics and they were fantastic he said that loading them was so easy and the amount it held was just great
