I have the Smartparts SB800B. I didn't buy it through Amazon. I bought it through Woot. Purchased and was told it had a 90 day manufacturer's warranty. It was dead on arrival. Went to the Smartparts website and got the technical support 800 number. I was told that because I didn't purchase it through an official distributor (read: distributor of their choice) that the warrant didn't apply. I was of course upset. I asked for the supervisor. I was told there are no supervisors. I lost it. I ranted at the poor customer service lady until finally I was put on hold for about 2-3 minutes. Another representative came on and explained the same thing, adding that the warranty replacements needed to be saved for their customers (read: customers who bought it at the distributors of their choice). It was also explained that the support was provided by another company (Winnit I think). I was not happy but willing to accept the Customer Service Manager's words. When asked for the number to the HQ so I may take it up with Smartparts directly, I was advised that the numbers have been disconnected. The long and short of it is that the company is not real, there is no one you can contact who works for Smartparts. As such, buyer beware.
Side note: I work in customer service. You DO NOT EVER tell the customer that there is no supervisor. That is a bald-faced lie and what ultimately set me off.
